August 15, 2024 – The Raspberry Pi community has once again demonstrated remarkable ingenuity with a new creation. Following the successful replication of the original PlayStation by a skilled enthusiast, another hobbyist, Salim Benbouziyane, has crafted a miniature Dell computer, running an operating system themed after Windows XP.
Creating this mini PC was no easy feat. Salim began by designing and 3D printing the computer’s casing, carefully sanding and painting it for a professional finish. He then assembled a Raspberry Pi 4, a 4-inch screen, and other components, adding a mini “Intel Inside” sticker as a nostalgic nod to classic computers.
For the operating system, Salim opted for Twister OS, customized with a Windows XP theme. While not an exact replica of the vintage OS, it effectively captures the visual aesthetic of the early 2000s. The final product not only looks the part but also functions like a real computer, responding to mouse and keyboard inputs.
Salim has kindly shared a detailed tutorial on Instructables, outlining the necessary materials and step-by-step instructions for anyone interested in replicating his masterpiece.
