Apple’s Declining Interest in (PRODUCT) RED Revealed

November 27, 2024 – According to a report published by technology media outlet MacRumors on November 26th, Apple seems to be gradually “phasing out” its (PRODUCT) RED line of products, with no active plans to introduce new ones.

A Brief on Apple’s (PRODUCT) RED Initiative

Apple began participating in the (PRODUCT) RED program in 2006, regularly launching limited-edition red products each year. For every (PRODUCT) RED item sold, Apple would donate a portion of the proceeds to the Global Fund, supporting medical initiatives in regions heavily affected by AIDS, such as Africa.

Shrinking Product Line

Citing the media report, Apple is currently not actively pursuing the launch of new (PRODUCT) RED products. Currently, the only new (PRODUCT) RED item being sold by Apple is the iPhone SE 3, which is expected to be discontinued upon the release of the iPhone SE 4 in March next year.

The report highlights Apple’s apparent “disinterest” in (PRODUCT) RED products over the years. Besides the iPhone SE 3, the remaining (PRODUCT) RED offerings include the iPhone 14 and some older iPhone cases. Notably, the Apple Watch has also done away with the (PRODUCT) RED version. Even Beats headphones and other products have started using new red color names like “Statement Red” and “Transparent Red,” moving away from the (PRODUCT) RED branding.

Apple’s Charitable Journey Continues

While the (PRODUCT) RED lineup may be shrinking, Apple’s support for global charitable funds remains unwavering. The company still raises funds for the Global Fund through its annual Apple Pay donation campaign.

Apple also announced today that from November 29th to December 8th, it will donate 5totheGlobalFundforeverypurchasemadewithApplePayonApple.com,theAppleStoreapp,oratAppleretailstores.ThesefundswillbeusedtocombatAIDS,tuberculosis,andmalaria.Applestatedthatthisyear′sdonationwillbecappedat3 million.

In conclusion, despite reports indicating Apple’s apparent shift away from actively promoting and launching new (PRODUCT) RED products, the company’s commitment to global charitable causes remains steadfast.
