June 01, 2023 – In a significant announcement today, Apple unveiled a brand new iteration of its Safari browser in the form of a technology preview version. This latest release, labeled version 171, focuses on addressing various issues that were present in Web Inspector, CSS, CSS Counter Styles, Web Animations, Rendering, JavaScript, Popover, Web API, Media, Accessibility, and SVG. Furthermore, Apple has made improvements to enhance the browser’s overall performance.
The current “Safari Technology Preview” version is built on Safari 16 updates, incorporating support for features found in macOS 13 Ventura. Among these enhancements are real-time text, passkeys, and improvements to web extensions.
It’s worth noting that the Safari technology preview, now at version 16.4, is compatible with devices running macOS 13 Ventura and macOS 12 Monterey. However, it is no longer supported on macOS Big Sur.
