Amazon’s New 12th Generation Kindle: Brighter Display and Swift Page Turns

September 26, 2024 – According to Good e-Reader, Spanish retailer MediaMarkt has recently listed a new Kindle e-reader, which is slated for release on September 30th. This device is speculated to be Amazon’s upcoming 12th generation entry-level Kindle.

The new Kindle boasts a 6-inch, 300ppi screen with enhanced contrast and a backlight brightness that is 25% brighter compared to its predecessor released two years ago. Additionally, it offers quicker page turns and introduces a new dark mode, enabling users to reverse the colors on the monochromatic e-ink display. However, it remains unclear whether the device supports warm screen illumination or features the improved E Ink Carta 1200 screen technology found in the 11th generation Kindle Paperwhite, released in 2021.

Slightly lighter than its predecessor, the 12th generation Kindle weighs in at 154 grams, a reduction of 4 grams. The device comes equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a USB-C port, and 16GB of storage space. It also features a battery that claims to last up to eight weeks. Customers will have at least two color options to choose from: black and matcha green.

MediaMarkt has priced the new Kindle at 119 euros, although it remains unclear whether this price includes lock screen advertisements. For reference, when the 11th generation Kindle was released two years ago, the ad-supported version was priced at 99.99 USD, while the version without ads cost 119.99 USD.
