Tesla Cybercab Test Vehicles with Steering Wheels Make Frequent Appearances at Giga Texas

February 25, 2025 – The presence of Tesla’s Cybercab test vehicles has significantly increased at the company’s Giga Texas superfactory. This week, drone footage captured a growing number of these vehicles undergoing tests within the factory premises.

Images shared by Joe Tegtmeyer on the X platform revealed Cybercabs being tested, notably featuring steering wheels. This detail has sparked further speculation that the Cybercab platform could be related to Tesla’s planned more economical vehicles for the mass market.

Tegtmeyer noted the difficulty in accurately counting the number of Cybercabs he observed due to their constant movement within the factory. However, he mentioned seeing at least three vehicles at certain moments, estimating the actual number to be closer to five or even more.

Tesla appears to be ramping up Cybercab testing at Giga Texas, with the current number of vehicles being the highest observed within the factory so far.

It’s worth mentioning that the Cybercab was first spotted testing at Giga Texas last November, just weeks after its debut at the “We, The Robots” event in Los Angeles on October 10th. Early test videos also featured a Model 3 following the Cybercab and a Model Y equipped with LiDAR, presumably to assist in validating the Cybercab’s testing. However, these two models were not seen in Tegtmeyer’s recent footage.

According to reports last December, Tesla may initially adopt remote operation measures for its Cybercab autonomous taxi service, ensuring safety and redundancy, especially during its launch phase.
