May 10, 2024 – Apple has unveiled the iPad Pro 2024, which debuts with the all-new Apple M4 chip. According to Geekbench 6 benchmarks, this chip achieves a remarkable score of 3767 in single-core tests and 14677 in multi-core evaluations.
Recently, the M4’s GPU performance has also surfaced on Geekbench 6, showing an impressive score of 53792 in the Geekbench 6 Metal test. This represents a significant increase of approximately 20% compared to the previous generation iPad Pro with the M2 chip, which scored around 45000 in the same test.
The M4 chip is crafted using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process technology, packing an astonishing 28 billion transistors. This powerful chip features 10 cores, including 4 performance cores for single-thread performance and responsiveness, as well as 6 efficiency cores optimized for multithreading and power efficiency.
Compared to the M2 chip, the M4 boasts a 1.5x improvement in CPU performance. The chip integrates a brand-new 10-core GPU, leveraging Apple’s dynamic cache allocation technology. This allows for real-time, dynamic memory allocation in hardware, drastically enhancing the performance of professional and gaming applications.
Furthermore, the GPU’s hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading capabilities endow it with exceptional rendering abilities, taking graphics performance to the next level.
