A Massive Leap Forward: Xiaomi President Teases Major Upgrades in Performance, Imaging, and AI

September 15, 2026 – The Xiaomi 18 Pro series is set to officially launch later this month, and the new devices are about to enter their pre-launch warm-up phase.

Today, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, stated that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series represents the most significant upgrade in the history of Xiaomi’s numbered series, with notable improvements in performance, imaging, battery life, and AI capabilities.

Lu also highlighted Xiaomi’s previously introduced “Miaoxiang” back screen. Data shows that since its release last year, the back screen has been well-received by many users. Currently, users utilize various app cards on the back screen over 4 million times daily, and the number of back screen wallpapers added exceeds 3.5 million per day.

He noted that user demands for the back screen are highly diverse. This year, Xiaomi will adopt a more advanced solution to further enrich the back screen experience.

Lu also revealed that there are many highly anticipated features in the Xiaomi 18 Pro series, and the company will introduce them one by one starting today.

It is understood that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be the first to feature the 6th-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built on TSMC’s 2nm process. The CPU clock speed will break through the 5GHz barrier for the first time, officially ushering smartphone flagship chips into the 5GHz era.

Regarding imaging, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is expected to exclusively feature a 200-megapixel LOFIC ultra-large main camera sensor. It will also be equipped with a 200-megapixel large-sensor telephoto macro lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens, further strengthening its flagship imaging capabilities.
