Apple Aims for Sleeker Designs with Upcoming Product Updates

June 17, 2024 – Apple, the technology giant, has recently unveiled its “thinnest product ever” – the 2024 13-inch iPad Pro, measuring just 5.1 millimeters in thickness. Now, fresh reports indicate that the company intends to apply this sleek design philosophy to its other product lines, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, and MacBook Pro.

In his latest Power On podcast, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman described the new iPad Pro as the “beginning of a new generation of Apple devices,” aiming to make them the “thinnest and lightest products” in their respective categories.

Gurman further revealed that Apple is currently focused on developing a much thinner iPhone for the 2025 iPhone 17 series, significantly slimmer than the current designs. Additionally, the company is working on even thinner versions of the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro compared to their current generations.

It’s worth noting that analyst Jeff Pu predicted significant changes to Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup earlier this year. He claimed that the series would feature a “completely new design,” along with improvements to the front camera and the introduction of a smaller cutout for Face ID.

According to Pu, Apple plans to introduce a new “iPhone 17 Slim” model, which will replace the “Plus” variant in its lineup. However, this Slim model is not a continuation of the previous iPhone 12/13 mini.

Interestingly, Apple’s longtime rival, Samsung, is rumored to be launching a thinner version of its Galaxy Z Fold6, called the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim, this year. If these rumors are true, the smartphone industry could witness a shift in design trends in the coming years, with a focus on creating slimmer and more lightweight devices.
