September 19, 2024 – In a recent podcast appearance on Acquired this week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made some noteworthy comments about his company’s approach, contrasting it with that of Apple. The tech mogul emphasized that Meta’s strategy stands in stark contrast to Apple’s in many respects.
According to Zuckerberg, there’s no question of right or wrong here, as Apple’s products have clearly been successful. He attributed Apple’s method to their corporate culture, which he described as taking considerable time to refine and perfect products before their release.
On the other hand, Meta prefers a different tactic. Zuckerberg explained that their focus is on releasing products to gather feedback, rather than waiting until everything is flawless. This approach, he said, is part of their effort to cultivate a culture that values timely product launches, introduces new features, and seeks prompt feedback.
The Meta CEO further elaborated that they don’t aim for unanimous praise when launching content. He believes that if you wait for everyone’s approval, you miss out on valuable opportunities to learn and incorporate that knowledge into your next release. This philosophy, he said, is core to Meta’s iterative and feedback-driven development process.
