January 9, 2025 – According to a report published by MacRumors yesterday (January 8), Apple is continuously refining its Siri voice assistant, with a major update slated for the iOS 19 release in 2026.
Apple is planning to introduce several enhancements to Siri in the iOS/iPadOS 18.4 update, scheduled for April 2025. These improvements may include screen sensing capabilities, stronger app controls, and a more precise understanding of personal contexts, all aimed at boosting Siri’s usability.

Sources close to the matter have hinted that Apple has even bigger plans for Siri, which are expected to materialize in the iOS 19.4 update in 2026. This aligns with previous revelations from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who disclosed that iOS 19 would introduce a “more conversational” Siri, powered by an “advanced large language model.” This updated Siri is anticipated to handle more intricate requests and engage in multi-round dialogues more effectively, akin to ChatGPT’s capabilities.
The report also suggests that Apple might preview this revamped Siri at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. Following this, a limited user testing phase is expected to commence in Spring 2026, culminating in the official release of the updated Siri within the iOS 19.4 update in April or May 2026.
In the face of stiff competition from Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant, and the emergence of chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, Siri’s limitations have become increasingly apparent. Apple is determined to address these shortcomings and elevate Siri’s intelligence and user experience through forthcoming iOS updates.
Industry observers believe that Siri is undergoing a significant transformation, with the iOS 18.4 update serving as merely a prelude to the main event scheduled for iOS 19.4.
