April 30, 2026 – OpenAI has made a significant announcement about broadening its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company’s AI models are set to make their debut on Amazon’s Bedrock platform.
This major development comes after Microsoft eased the original exclusive cooperation terms between the two entities, enabling OpenAI to break free from the confines of Microsoft’s ecosystem.

Under the new agreement, OpenAI will integrate its core models such as GPT – 5.5 and Codex into AWS. In addition, Amazon is set to launch “OpenAI – powered Bedrock Managed Agents” to assist enterprise customers in deploying autonomous AI agents on a large scale.
OpenAI’s Chief Revenue Officer, Dresser, stated that enterprises have now moved beyond the experimental phase and are in the stage of large – scale deployment. There is a strong demand for cutting – edge models that can operate in a trusted environment.
The key to making this cooperation a reality lies in the revision of the agreement between OpenAI and Microsoft. Microsoft has given up some exclusivity restrictions, allowing OpenAI to enter competing cloud platforms in exchange for a more favorable revenue – sharing deal. It has also removed the controversial AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) clause.
It’s worth noting that Microsoft had previously attempted to prevent Amazon from collaborating with OpenAI on the grounds of contract violation.
