February 18, 2025 – In a recent post on X platform, blogger Dima Zeniuk shared a photo of Elon Musk with several others, along with a caption announcing that xAI will be launching an AI game studio. This news was later confirmed by Musk himself.
The move comes after Musk expressed his opposition to “woke content” in games last November, stating that the gaming industry has become overly “woke” and questioning why developers “can’t just make great games without the woke lectures.” Given that “most game studios are owned by big corporations,” Musk has decided to establish an “AI game studio” under his xAI banner, with the goal of “making games great again.”
Previously, Musk had criticized the choice of a black protagonist in “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” and argued that “DEI will ruin the game.” He also voiced his opposition to the inclusion of gender pronouns in the game “Oath” and engaged in a conflict with its art director, Matt Hansen, who called Musk a “freak.”
DEI, which stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, refers to the representation of different skin colors and genders in games, such as “Dragon Age: Inquisition’s” diverse cast of characters. Musk’s new AI game studio aims to create games that prioritize gameplay and entertainment value over social or political messaging.
