Apple to Unveil New MacBook Air with M4 Chip by March, Says Gurman

February 18, 2025 – According to Mark Gurman, a reporter from Bloomberg, Apple is planning to unveil a new MacBook Air equipped with the latest M4 chip by March. This timeline is similar to the release schedule of the M3 MacBook Air last year.

Gurman noted that the exact launch date for the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models remains uncertain, despite his previous indication that these new devices would be released within “a few weeks.”

Initially, there were rumors that the new MacBook Air would be Apple’s first hardware release of the year. Last December, Apple accidentally confirmed the upcoming M4 MacBook Air through a macOS Sequoia 15.2 update, which mentioned unreleased “Mac16,12” and “Mac16,13” models. The update specifically referred to “MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)” and “MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025).”

Since then, anticipation for the new MacBook Air has been building. Gurman mentioned last week that the existing inventory of M3 MacBook Air is dwindling, suggesting that the arrival of the new device is imminent. This update to the MacBook Air line follows Apple’s previous refresh in March 2024.
