February 17, 2025 – According to the latest 2024 India Tablet Market Analysis Report released by CyberMedia Research (CMR), Samsung has made significant progress in the Indian tablet market.
The report reveals that in the fourth quarter of 2024, Samsung captured a 29% share of the Indian tablet market, securing the top spot. This is a notable increase from its 19% market share in the same period of 2023, indicating substantial growth for the brand over the past year. Meanwhile, Lenovo and Apple followed closely with market shares of 23% and 21%, respectively, taking second and third places. Xiaomi and realme occupied the fourth and fifth positions with market shares of 16% and 3%, respectively. It’s worth mentioning that in the fourth quarter of 2023, Apple led the market with a 25% share, while Samsung was in second place.

Looking at the overall performance for the full year of 2024, Samsung held a 28% market share in the Indian tablet market, coming in second after Apple’s 29%. This suggests that Samsung was just a step behind Apple in terms of annual shipments. In 2023, Apple and Samsung had market shares of 25% and 23%, respectively, with Apple in the lead and Samsung closely following. Evidently, over the past two years, these two brands have dominated the Indian tablet market, and the gap between Samsung and Apple is gradually narrowing.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus 5G emerged as a key contributor to the company’s 2024 shipments, accounting for 68% of its total tablet shipments for the year. This model served as the primary driver of the brand’s growth. Considering the report’s mention of rapid growth in the high-end tablet market, it is expected that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 also achieved strong sales.
CMR predicts that the Indian tablet market will experience a growth of 10% to 15% in 2025. Given Samsung’s current momentum, it is anticipated that the brand will surpass Apple in annual sales next year, claiming the top position in the Indian tablet market.
