BYD Ships 227,356 Passenger Cars to Brazil in January–September, Nearly 2.4 Times Australia’s Volume

November 5, 2026 – BYD’s overseas passenger-car exports in the first nine months of 2026 show a sharply diversified footprint, with Brazil running far ahead of every other market. According to Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, BYD shipped 227,356 passenger vehicles to Brazil from January to September, about 2.4 times the volume sent to second-place Australia.

Australia received 93,966 units, followed by the United Kingdom with 82,831 and Belgium with 74,140. Germany ranked fifth at 50,720 units, while the Philippines, Spain and Slovenia occupied sixth to eighth place with 40,917, 36,690 and 31,799 units respectively. The United Arab Emirates and Jordan rounded out the top ten, sending BYD’s export map further into the Middle East.

Powertrain preferences vary markedly by region. Brazil remains BYD’s most balanced overseas market, with 125,372 battery-electric passenger cars and 101,984 plug-in hybrid models delivered in the first nine months. Australia leans heavily toward full electrification: about 80 percent of its 93,966-unit total, or 75,235 vehicles, were battery-electric.

European demand looks different. In both the United Kingdom and Belgium, plug-in hybrid exports exceeded battery-electric shipments, with 51,567 and 46,468 plug-in units respectively. Germany was more evenly split, recording 25,166 battery-electric and 25,554 plug-in hybrid exports.

Across the five European countries in the top ten — the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Slovenia — BYD shipped 276,182 passenger vehicles, accounting for roughly 38 percent of the top-ten total.

Southeast Asia and the Middle East are still dominated by plug-in hybrids. In the Philippines, plug-in models made up about 68 percent of BYD’s exports. The share was even higher in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, where plug-in hybrids accounted for more than 85 percent of shipments.

Jordan entered the top-ten list for the first time in the January-to-September period with 25,742 units, replacing Thailand, which had appeared in the January-to-August ranking.

The data underline how BYD’s overseas passenger-car business is no longer concentrated in a single corridor. Brazil provides scale, Europe supplies multiple established markets, and Australia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East add meaningful volume — each with distinct powertrain preferences that are shaping the company’s export mix.
