January 8, 2025 – According to Indonesian media reports, Rosal Roeslani, the Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries, has given his approval for Apple’s plan to invest approximately $1 billion in the construction of an AirTag factory on Batam Island.
Following a meeting with Nick Amman, Apple’s Vice President of Global Policy, in Jakarta, Rosal stated that this investment marks the first phase, and Apple intends to invite additional suppliers to Indonesia in the future, thereby continuously increasing the value of investments received by the country. The factory is expected to be completed and operational by early 2026.
It is understood that Apple’s investment commitment will create job opportunities for up to 2,000 individuals. Rosal also emphasized that his department will oversee this investment plan to ensure its smooth progression.
