Microsoft Rumored to Be Planning Layoffs, Spokesperson Highlights Focus on High-Performing Talent

January 8, 2025 – According to a report by Business Insider today, insiders have revealed that Microsoft is planning layoffs in the near future, with a focus on conducting stricter reviews of poorly performing employees as part of the restructuring process.

A Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed the layoffs, although they declined to disclose the exact number of affected employees.

The spokesperson emphasized that Microsoft is committed to fostering a high-performance culture, stating that the company is dedicated to assisting its employees in their learning and growth. However, when employees do not meet expectations, the company will take appropriate measures.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has reported strong financial results for the first quarter of its 2025 fiscal year (corresponding to the third quarter of the calendar year 2024). Revenue reached 655.85billion,representinga16565.17 billion reported in the same period last year. This growth remains consistent even when excluding the impact of currency exchange rate fluctuations.

Net income for the quarter stood at 246.67billion,an11222.91 billion reported in the same quarter of the previous year. Once again, this growth is maintained when adjusting for currency fluctuations.
