Apple Watch Turns 10: Code Reveals Plans for a Major Celebration

November 06, 2024 – MacRumors reported yesterday that Apple is planning a celebration for the “10th anniversary” of the Apple Watch, potentially teasing the launch of a new product.

Hints from the iOS 18.2 beta suggest that Apple might be gearing up for commemorative activities, possibly introducing a fresh activity challenge linked to the milestone.

The anniversary holds particular significance for Apple, given its history of marking such occasions with special releases. For instance, the iPhone X was unveiled in 2017 to celebrate the iPhone’s 10th anniversary, and this year, Apple celebrated Apple Pay’s decade with a slew of notable events.

Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman speculated that Apple had ambitious plans for a complete redesign of the Apple Watch on its 10th anniversary, featuring magnetic bands and a slimmer profile.

While design updates did arrive in September 2024, they didn’t include the anticipated “Apple Watch X” moniker or the introduction of a new band attachment system. These enhancements could potentially be unveiled as part of the anniversary celebrations in 2025.
