Apple Declares iPhone XS Max and 6s Plus as ‘Vintage’

November 16, 2024 – According to a report published by tech media outlet MacRumors on November 15th, Apple has recently classified certain older models of iPhone and Apple Watch as either “vintage” or “obsolete” products.

Vintage Classification

Apple has now designated the iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone XS Max as “vintage.” However, the smaller iPhone XS and iPhone 6s models have not yet been added to this “vintage” list.

It’s worth noting that the 32GB variant of the iPhone 6s Plus had previously been categorized as “obsolete.”

As explained by Apple, “vintage” products refer to those that have been discontinued by Apple for more than five years but less than seven years.

Obsolete Status

Meanwhile, the aluminum and stainless steel variants of the Apple Watch Series 2 have been labeled as “obsolete.” The high-end ceramic case Series 2 model, however, has not been included in this list.

“Obsolete” products are defined as those that have been discontinued by Apple for over seven years. Additionally, all Monster-branded Beats products are considered obsolete, regardless of their purchase date.
