April 25, 2024 – Apple has announced a special event on May 7th, with the iPad product line taking center stage. Both the iPad Air and iPad Pro are expected to receive updates.
Previously, rumors from various supply chain sources indicated that the upcoming iPad Air would adopt a Mini-LED screen, aligning its overall performance with that of the iPad Pro. However, according to the latest revelation from screen analyst Ross Young, Apple has decided not to use Mini-LED in its mass-produced models primarily due to the high cost of the panels. Instead, the new iPad Air will continue to feature an LCD screen.
Nonetheless, the existence of a 12.9-inch iPad Air has been confirmed, marking the largest size in the iPad Air product line’s history. This new model will be powered by Apple’s M2 chip, which is manufactured using TSMC’s 5-nanometer process and integrates 20 billion transistors.
Despite the absence of Mini-LED technology, the significant increase in screen size coupled with the enhanced performance of the M2 chip is expected to greatly boost the iPad Air’s productivity capabilities, making it suitable for handling a wide range of daily work tasks.
