April 25, 2024 – Nvidia has recently announced its acquisition of Run:ai, a move aimed at bolstering the latter’s product roadmap and integrating its resources into Nvidia DGX Cloud. While the specific details of the acquisition, including the purchase price and completion date, remain undisclosed, an informed source revealed to TechCrunch that the deal was struck at a price of $700 million (approximately 5.082 billion Chinese yuan).
In a press release, Nvidia’s founder and CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, “Run:ai has been closely collaborating with Nvidia since 2020. We share a common vision and are passionate about helping our customers fully utilize their infrastructure. We look forward to embarking on this new journey together.”
Run:ai’s flagship product is a Kubernetes-based workload management and orchestration software designed to address the increasing complexity of deploying AI systems. As workloads become distributed across cloud, edge, and on-premise datacenter infrastructures, Run:ai’s solution promises to enhance GPU utilization, improve GPU infrastructure management, and provide greater flexibility to open architectures. Nvidia believes that this acquisition will further strengthen its position in the AI infrastructure market and better serve its customers.
