OpenAI Establishes Second Asian Office in Singapore, Following Tokyo

October 9, 2024 – On Wednesday, American artificial intelligence (AI) company OpenAI announced plans to open an office in Singapore later this year and has already begun assembling a team in the country.

According to the company, Singapore will serve as a hub for supporting clients and partners in the Asia-Pacific region. The team will work to strengthen relationships with local and regional governments, businesses, and institutions. OpenAI stated in its announcement that Singapore ranks among the top countries in terms of per capita usage of ChatGPT.

This move follows OpenAI’s previous announcement in April of establishing its first Asian office in Tokyo, Japan, as part of its expansion into the region. The company expressed its commitment to collaborating with local governments, businesses, and research institutions to develop safe AI tools tailored to meet unique local needs.
