September 06, 2023 – Intel is poised to launch its next-generation Raptor Lake Refresh processors later this month, and already, production versions have made their way onto the Geekbench benchmark testing platform. The official market release is expected to follow suit next month.
The flagship model of this new generation, the Core i9-14900K processor, has posted impressive results on Geekbench 6.1.0’s single-core test, achieving a score of 3121. This marks a roughly 6% improvement over its predecessor, the 13900K, although its multi-core performance falls slightly behind.
It’s worth noting that these test results were obtained using a platform based on the MSI Z790 motherboard and 16GB of DDR5-4800 memory, which may not fully unlock the i9-14900K’s performance potential.
As previously rumored, the i9-14900K processor features 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores, and it benefits from Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost technology, making it the second Intel processor to break the 6 GHz frequency barrier.
CrossMark benchmark scores for the i9-14900K and i7-14700K, which were leaked earlier, suggest that the i9-14900K outperforms the 14700K by approximately 14%. This indicates the promising performance potential of the i7 processors as well.
However, according to well-known leaker @momomo_us, pricing for the i9-14900K, i7-14700K, and i5-14600K in this generation is expected to increase by approximately 15%. This could mean that the 14900K might be priced at around $695 (approximately 5053 Chinese Yuan), and it remains to be seen how consumers will react to this price hike.
