Qualcomm and Google Partner to Revolutionize Digital Cockpits with Generative AI

October 23, 2024 – Qualcomm Technologies has announced a multi-year technological partnership with Google, aiming to propel the digital transformation within the automotive sector. This collaboration will harness the complementary strengths of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Android Automotive OS, and Google Cloud to forge a standardized reference platform for developing in-car solutions powered by generative AI.

Backed by Google’s AI capabilities, the platform will leverage Snapdragon’s heterogeneous edge AI System on a Chip (SoCs) and the Qualcomm AI Hub. This integration enables features such as an intuitive voice assistant, an immersive mapping experience, and real-time driving predictions.

The core of this partnership revolves around a generative AI-based digital cockpit development framework. This upgradeable, automotive-grade framework promises a cutting-edge digital cockpit experience, supporting real-time optimizations and upgrades. It integrates the Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS), combining Google’s generative AI with the end-point optimization technology of Snapdragon SoCs. This fusion facilitates a flexible voice user interface and real-time driving information updates.

Furthermore, a unified vehicle-to-cloud development framework, crafted from the core technologies of both parties, supports infrastructure connectivity from the vehicle to the cloud. This framework allows automotive software hosted on Google Cloud to be optimized for Snapdragon platforms, enhancing development efficiency and expediting the market launch of AAOS platforms and services. Additionally, the Snapdragon Connectivity Service Platform, operating on Google Cloud, facilitates an API-based service connectivity model, enabling upgrades for both in-vehicle and out-of-vehicle connectivity services.
