June 07, 2024 – Proton Pass, the password management software offered by Proton, has recently announced the launch of its macOS and Linux desktop applications, marking a significant expansion in its platform coverage.
Proton Pass now spans across major platforms, encompassing Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, iPadOS, and even Chrome OS through Android app support. This comprehensive coverage ensures that users can access and manage their passwords seamlessly across various devices and operating systems.
To complement the macOS application, Proton has also introduced a standalone native Safari browser extension. Unlike Safari’s default password manager, Proton Pass enables the synchronization of login information across multiple browsers and devices, providing users with consistent access on all platforms.
The Linux version of Proton Pass supports all Debian and RedHat-based distributions, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and CentOS, among others. This wide compatibility ensures that a broad range of Linux users can benefit from the secure and convenient password management offered by Proton Pass.
Proton Pass was officially released in June 2023 and has since gained recognition for its robust security features. Notably, the software employs end-to-end encryption for all fields, including usernames and website addresses, offering users a higher level of protection compared to other mainstream password managers.
