March 7, 2025 – According to a recent report by Motor1, Ford’s European Communications Manager, Finn Thomassen, revealed in an email that the production of the Ford Focus will be discontinued in November. Despite this announcement, Ford’s public relations team stated that consumers can still customize new cars on demand. However, with the upcoming closure of the Saarlouis plant in Germany, orders for the Focus will soon end, leaving only inventory vehicles available for selection.

Ford CEO Jim Farley previously indicated that the company is shifting away from unprofitable car models and towards more “iconic” and profitable vehicles. In an interview last year, Farley acknowledged that while models like the Fiesta and Mondeo are popular with customers, they have not generated sufficient profits for the company. Instead, Ford plans to focus on more profitable models such as the Bronco, F-150 Raptor, and Mustang, with the goal of becoming the “Porsche of the off-road world.”
Previous reports have suggested that Ford is not completely abandoning the small car market. Last year, the company hinted at plans to introduce small electric vehicles in Europe, following the launch of its four electric SUV series. This indicates that Ford is adapting its strategy to meet changing market demands and consumer preferences, while also prioritizing profitability.
