February 5, 2025 – Apple has increased the monthly subscription price for AppleCare+ for iPhone users in the United States, as reported yesterday (February 4) by MacRumors. The adjustment sees a hike of $0.50 per month across all iPhone models, while the two-year upfront purchase price and service terms remain unchanged.
In a strategic shift, Apple is phasing out the two-year fixed-term purchase option for AppleCare+ at its retail stores, promoting instead a subscription-based model to ensure a steady stream of revenue.

The price adjustment impacts all current iPhone models. For instance, the monthly fee for the standard AppleCare+ plan for the iPhone 16 has risen from 9.99to10.49, with the plan including theft and loss coverage also seeing a similar increase.
Notably, the subscription prices for AppleCare+ on iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch remain unaltered. Additionally, the upfront two-year AppleCare+ purchase price, along with service fees and deductibles, has not changed. This price revision exclusively affects AppleCare+ users on a monthly payment plan.
Apple’s transition towards a subscription-only model for AppleCare+ is underway. Starting this week, Apple Store retail locations will no longer offer the fixed-term purchase option for AppleCare+. Customers will now have to opt for automatically renewing monthly or annual subscriptions to avoid any lapse in coverage, thereby providing Apple with a consistent revenue flow.
