January 20, 2025 – In a blog post published yesterday, renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg revealed that Apple is on the brink of unveiling the Powerbeats Pro 2 headphones. Citing information from FCC filings related to the headphones, Gurman hinted that the Cupertino giant will introduce the media to the new wireless earbuds and their cutting-edge features in the coming “week or so.”
Based on current leaks, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are set to adopt a more upright and sleek design compared to their discontinued predecessor, the original Powerbeats Pro. Previous reports, derived from iOS 18 RC code mining, suggested that the charging case of the Powerbeats Pro 2 remains nearly identical to the first generation, with the notable difference being the Beats logo, now rendered in white instead of relief.

The new generation of earbuds features an adjustable earhook design for enhanced stability during wear. The physical button originally located on the Beats logo has been replaced with touch sensors, although a single physical button persists on the stem of the earbuds.
Powerbeats Pro 2 will boast an array of new functionalities, including heart rate monitoring, active noise cancellation, spatial audio, and adaptive audio. Heart rate data can be viewed within the Health app on iPhone and other compatible applications, and the earbuds can even sync with fitness equipment like treadmills for measurement. The earbuds and their charging case will be available in Obsidian Black, Desert Sand Gold, Vitality Orange, and Ultra Violet color options, with the charging case presumably equipped with a USB-C port.
Moreover, the media anticipates that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will deliver superior sound quality, extended battery life, and improved cross-platform compatibility, including support for Android devices through the “Find My Device” feature.
