December 12, 2024 – Apple has announced today that with the official release of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, Apple Intelligence is now expanding its language support to include localized English for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. This marks the official launch of the feature in these countries. Notably, this is the first time Apple Intelligence has been rolled out beyond the United States.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, all four iPhone 16 models, all Macs equipped with M-series chips, all iPads powered by M-series chips, and the latest iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip.
On the iPhone, the initial set of Apple Intelligence features was introduced in iOS 18.1. These features include writing tools for summarizing and proofreading text, suggested replies in Messages and Mail apps, and Notification Summary. iOS 18.2 adds more Apple Intelligence capabilities, such as Genmoji for creating custom emoji, Image Playground for generating images, and the integration of ChatGPT with Siri. It’s worth mentioning that the iPhone 16 models, when running iOS 18.2, will also enjoy a new feature called “Visual Intelligence,” which allows users to quickly identify objects in the world around them through the camera controls.
Apple has stated that Apple Intelligence will continue to expand its language support. Additional languages, including Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese, are expected to be rolled out over the next year. The first wave of these language updates is scheduled to be released in April 2025 along with software updates.
