September 29, 2026 (evening) – BYD Company Ltd. announced on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange that its board of directors has elected Wang Chuanfu as chairman of the ninth board of directors, for a three-year term beginning from the date of approval and lasting until the end of the ninth board’s term.
The first meeting of BYD’s ninth board was held in person on September 29, 2026. All nine directors were present. The vote was unanimous: nine in favor, zero against, and zero abstentions.

The announcement stated that Wang Chuanfu’s simultaneous roles as chairman and president help improve decision-making and operational efficiency, ensure continuity and stability in long-term strategy, and align with the company’s current management needs. Wang Chuanfu is BYD’s controlling shareholder and actual controller. He previously served as chairman and president during the eighth board’s term.
At a recent shareholders’ meeting, Wang Chuanfu highlighted the Fangcheng S model, saying sales had exceeded expectations and monthly volume was expected to stabilize between 10,000 and 15,000 units. He also stated that BYD aims to become the world’s largest automaker by volume by 2030.
According to its official website, BYD was founded on November 18, 1994, and is headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Its businesses span automobiles, electronics, new energy, and rail transit. The company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2002 and on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2011.
