August 21, 2024 – Tesla has apparently removed a resale restriction policy from the sales agreement of its Cybertruck. This week, some X users have noticed that Tesla quietly deleted the provision that prohibited buyers from selling their Foundation Series Cybertruck within a year of purchase, which was previously subject to a penalty of $50,000 or more. Additionally, Tesla had barred certain resellers from purchasing its vehicles again.
The removal of this clause coincides with Tesla’s broader sales push for the Foundation Series Cybertruck. Prospective buyers can now directly purchase these electric vehicles through the company’s online order configurator, eliminating the need for advance bookings.
Despite the previous policy, some individuals still resorted to reselling their Cybertrucks. In an email sent to those who resold their Cybertrucks in March, Tesla warned that any future orders placed by them would be canceled, and the booking fees, whether 100or250, would not be refunded.
As Tesla continues to ramp up Cybertruck production at its Austin, Texas Gigafactory, the electric vehicle has emerged as the top-selling model priced over $100,000 in the United States over the past two months.
