February 19, 2025 – According to a report published by technology media outlet MacRumors, Apple supply chain analyst Jeff Pu has revealed that the upcoming iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models will support a maximum of 35W wired charging.
In 2024, ChargerLAB conducted tests and discovered that the iPhone 16 Pro could sustain a charging speed of approximately 30W. However, when tested with Apple’s 140W USB-C power adapter, the peak charging speed reached 37W, although the duration of this peak speed was not specified.

Another media outlet, Phone Arena, tested the standard iPhone 16 model and found that under heavy loads such as benchmark testing or running games, the peak charging speed could reach 38W, but the sustained charging speed was closer to 20W.
Taking these findings into account, it appears that the iPhone 16 series was already capable of achieving a peak wired charging speed of around 35W. As such, the iPhone 17 series may not bring significant improvements in terms of wired charging speed.
Pu did not mention the wireless MagSafe charging speed for the iPhone 17 series. Currently, the iPhone 16 series supports up to 25W MagSafe wireless charging. Consumers who demand faster charging speeds may need to stay tuned for more information in the future.
