January 11, 2024 – After a month-long delay, OpenAI has finally announced the official launch of the GPT Store today, enabling users to share their customized versions of ChatGPT chatbots.
According to OpenAI, since the release of GPTs over two months ago, users have created over 3 million customized versions of ChatGPT.
The GPT Store will initially be available to paying ChatGPT users, development teams, and enterprise customers, and will feature a collection of chatbots created by users for various tasks. For instance, customized ChatGPT can teach children mathematics or come up with various cocktail recipes. It will also include publicly shared chatbots by users, ultimately introducing revenue-generating opportunities for them, similar to the concept of the Apple or Google app stores.
Additionally, the GPT Store offers features such as leaderboards, akin to those found in the Apple or Google app stores, allowing users to quickly find the most popular chatbots.
It also supports search by category, including DALL-E, writing, research, programming, education, lifestyle, and even games like “Oh No, I’m Surrounded by Beautiful Women!” graphic novel-style experience. With the GPT Store, users can now easily discover and explore a wide range of chatbots created by the community, offering endless possibilities for entertainment, education, and productivity.
