Apple Faces Challenges in Siri’s Intelligent Development, Some Features May Be Delayed Until iOS 19

March 9, 2025 – Apple has acknowledged that the development of its planned Apple Intelligence Siri functionality is not progressing as expected, according to a report published by MacRumors yesterday. The tech giant admitted that some of the features may be delayed until the release of iOS 19.

In a statement, Apple highlighted that Siri has undergone several upgrades in the past six months, including more natural conversation abilities and integration with ChatGPT. However, the company revealed that the development of the personalized Siri functionality, which was originally scheduled to be released sooner, has encountered unexpected challenges and is now expected to be rolled out “in the coming year.”

This vague timeframe has sparked varying interpretations among industry observers regarding the specific launch date. The delayed Siri features include the ability to manage personal contexts such as tracking emails, messages, and files, as well as deeper in-app operation capabilities.

Furthermore, Apple’s plans to introduce a ChatGPT-like large language model (LLM) version of Siri may face further delays, potentially pushing its release to iOS 20. Several media outlets and analysts have speculated that Apple’s reference to “the coming year” could indicate 2026, which aligns with the expected release of the iOS 19 system.

Prominent tech blogger John Gruber noted that Apple’s definition of a “year” often starts with its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), suggesting that the Siri features could be pushed back to iOS 19. Other media outlets, including Reuters and CNBC, have also reported on the potential 2026 launch of the Siri functionality.

Meanwhile, rumors have surfaced that the implementation of Siri’s advanced features may require more powerful hardware support. This could potentially lead Apple to either scale back certain functionalities or reduce the operating speed of current devices. Some insiders from Apple’s AI department have even hinted at the possibility of a complete rebuild for some of the features.
