ChatGPT Emerges as Top AI Tool in Global Workplaces, India Leads the Way

March 10, 2025 – According to a recent study conducted by DeskTime between January 2023 and December 2024, ChatGPT remains the most widely used artificial intelligence (AI) tool in the global workplace, with its adoption rate continuously increasing. The research, which encompassed 97 companies and 2385 employees, gathered data through a time-tracking tool.

Findings indicate that by December 2024, a remarkable 75.9% of offices worldwide had integrated ChatGPT into their work processes. Notably, India leads the global adoption rate, with an astonishing 92% of surveyed workplaces reporting the use of this AI tool.

In comparison, the United States lags behind the global average in ChatGPT adoption. However, it has shown a steady increase from 68% in 2023 to 72% in 2024. Although the growth rate is slower compared to other regions, there has been a significant surge in the usage time of ChatGPT, with 42.6% of employees reporting higher frequency of use. Moreover, the personal adoption rate of ChatGPT among American employees has escalated from 17% in 2023 to 28.3% in 2024.

Furthermore, DeskTime’s research reveals that 75% of offices in the US utilized AI tools, including ChatGPT, in 2024. This is slightly lower than the 76% reported in the previous year. It’s worth noting that AI adoption rates fluctuated over the year, dipping to 63% in January 2024 and rebounding to 81% by October. These variations could potentially be attributed to seasonal work trends, shifts in company policies, or changing attitudes towards automation.
