July 31, 2026 –Chinese automotive manufacturers continue their aggressive expansion across the European market, with BYD hitting a historic milestone in the UK by surpassing 100,000 total vehicle sales. As reported by Carscoops, the brand reached this landmark just over three years after launching local sales in March 2023 – a pace that most legacy automakers take decades to achieve.
BYD’s explosive growth trajectory in the UK market stands out as unprecedented. What began with a single entry model, the ATTO 3, has evolved into a full lineup of 10 distinct vehicles, while its retail footprint has ballooned from just 5 initial dealerships to a nationwide network of 143 locations.

The brand’s momentum has accelerated sharply in 2026: in the first six months alone, BYD delivered 37,995 units in the UK, accounting for more than one-third of its total cumulative sales. Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows BYD’s June 2026 sales surged 36.2% year-over-year to 6,242 vehicles, lifting its overall market share to 2.93%.
“Every one of our 100,000 customers, and every family that stands behind them, has welcomed BYD into their daily lives, and we owe them our deepest gratitude,” said Hongde Ge, BYD UK Managing Director. The company also confirmed it will expand its UK lineup further in the near future, bringing the BYD SHARK pickup truck, Ti 7 SUV, and premium Denza Z and Z9 GT models to local showrooms.
