July 31, 2026 – Xiaomi Unveils New Pengcheng Technology Platform, Lei Jun Highlights Next Phase of Smart EV Development
Xiaomi has officially hosted its Pengcheng Technology Conference, where CEO Lei Jun opened the event by revisiting the company’s first automotive technology presentation and outlining the journey of Xiaomi’s electric vehicle ambitions.
At Xiaomi’s inaugural EV technology event on December 28, 2023, the company revealed its vision for entering the automotive industry: creating a “dream car” capable of competing with industry benchmarks such as Porsche and Tesla. Xiaomi said its goal was to build vehicles that combine attractive design, engaging driving dynamics, comfort, safety, and intelligent mobility features.
Just two and a half years later, Xiaomi has launched two production models — the Xiaomi SU7 sedan and Xiaomi YU7 SUV. Both vehicles quickly gained market attention and became major sales successes, with cumulative deliveries surpassing 700,000 units.
Lei Jun emphasized that safety remains the foundation of Xiaomi’s vehicle development strategy. He stated that safety comes before everything else, with the company focusing on core technologies from the ground up and investing significantly more resources to build reliable and high-quality vehicles.
During the conference, Xiaomi introduced its vision for the upcoming Pengcheng vehicle platform. The company said it aims to create a new type of vehicle that combines the exterior styling, driving performance, and off-road capability of an SUV with the spacious interior layout and flexible configurations typically found in recreational vehicles.
To achieve this goal, Xiaomi’s automotive team spent three and a half years developing a completely new platform architecture called the Xiaomi Kunlun Technology Architecture. The system integrates three major components: the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, Xiaomi Kunlun Super Extended-Range Technology, and Xiaomi Kunlun Comprehensive Safety System.
With the new architecture, Xiaomi is seeking to further expand its presence in the smart electric vehicle market by combining advanced engineering, intelligent technology, and a more flexible vehicle design philosophy. The Pengcheng platform represents the company’s continued effort to compete in the next generation of automotive innovation.
