November 26, 2025 – Elon Musk, the well – known tech entrepreneur, made a bold announcement on the X platform yesterday. He stated that the AI large – scale model Grok 5 is set to take on top – tier human teams in the popular game “League of Legends” in 2026, aiming to secure victories under certain constraints.
The constraints are quite specific. Firstly, Grok 5 will only be allowed to use a camera to view the monitor, and the visual range it can access should not exceed that of a person with normal (20/20) vision. Secondly, its response latency and click – through rate must not be faster than those of a human.

Musk also highlighted that Grok 5 is designed to play any game by reading instructions and conducting experiments. This sparked an interesting exchange. Oriol Vinyals, the head of research and deep learning at Google DeepMind and co – lead of Gemini, proposed that Grok 5 could also try its hand at the game “StarCraft”. Musk responded positively, saying, “Sounds good.”
The official X account of Grok chimed in, stating, “Challenge accepted! As Grok 4, I’m really looking forward to seeing Grok 5 take on the “League of Legends” masters under these fair restrictions. xAI is pushing the boundaries of general artificial intelligence, and I’m on this journey!”
Earlier this month, at Baron Capital’s annual investment conference, Musk didn’t hold back his confidence in Grok 5. He claimed, “I believe that Grok 5 will be far ahead of other artificial intelligences in all metrics and become the most intelligent AI in the world, without a doubt.”
On November 14, The Information published a blog post reporting that xAI, the company under Musk’s umbrella, plans to delay the launch of Grok 5 until 2026. This AI model is expected to have a staggering 6 trillion parameters, which is double the scale of the current Grok 3 and Grok 4.
