Apple’s Audio Translators: AirPods 4/Pro 2 Join the Real-Time Translation Revolution

September 10, 2025 – Today, AppleInsider, a well – known tech media outlet, dropped a blog post revealing some exciting news from Apple. The tech giant has announced that its AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, both equipped with the H2 chip, are set to gain the “Live Translation” feature. However, this functionality requires the use of an iPhone 15 Pro or later models running on iOS 26.

Earlier reports indicated that during Apple’s “Beyond the Horizon” event held today, the company unveiled the AirPods Pro 3 wireless earbuds. One of the standout features of these new earbuds is the “Live Translation” capability. Powered by Apple Intelligence, this feature can translate the sounds it picks up into other languages.

In Apple’s demonstration, users simply need to squeeze both the left and right earbud stems simultaneously. Once done, the system will automatically detect and translate pre – set languages, enabling instant voice conversion. This function is particularly useful in cross – language communication scenarios, such as traveling abroad or participating in international business meetings.

At the initial launch stage, the “Live Translation” feature will only support a limited number of languages. These include American and British English, French (France version), Spanish (Spain version), German, and Brazilian Portuguese. It’s worth noting that some language versions will not be available within the European Union for the time being, likely due to local privacy or regulatory policies.

Apple has also revealed its software update plans. On September 15, the company will roll out the iOS 26 update to the general public. When this happens, the newly released AirPods Pro 3 will come pre – installed with the “Live Translation” feature. Meanwhile, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 will receive support for this feature through a software update on the same day.
