August 23, 2024 – SpaceX has recently announced the completion of the capping process for the second Starship launch tower at its Starbase, located in South Texas. Remarkably, this significant milestone was achieved in just 41 days.
In addition to this progress, SpaceX is gearing up for the launch of two manned Crew Dragon spacecrafts within the next month. These missions, marked as SpaceX’s 14th and 15th manned flights, correspond to the “Polaris Dawn” commercial space mission and NASA’s Crew-9 mission, respectively.
The upcoming “Polaris Dawn” expedition is set to make history, as it aims to accomplish the first-ever commercial spacewalk and shatter the record for the highest orbit altitude in a manned low-earth orbit mission.
Furthermore, in a notable contingency plan, if Boeing is unable to facilitate the return of its Starliner spacecraft, SpaceX’s Crew-9 Dragon spacecraft may be utilized for the rescue of two astronauts, currently scheduled to return next year.
