July 04, 2024 – Samsung Display today announced that its QD-OLED displays for monitors and OLED screens for laptops have become the first in the industry to receive both Pantone Validate and Pantone SkinTone Validated certifications. This significant milestone comes a year after Samsung Display’s QD-OLED panels for televisions became the inaugural screens to achieve these prestigious validations, further highlighting the company’s commitment to exceptional color reproduction.
The certifications, granted by Pantone, the global authority on color, are testament to Samsung Display’s unwavering dedication to accuracy and quality in color representation. To earn the Pantone Validate certification, a device must accurately simulate over 2,300 colors from the Pantone Matching System. Meanwhile, the Pantone SkinTone Validated certification demands that the tested device faithfully reproduces more than 150 skin tones based on Pantone’s SkinTone Guide.
Iain Pike, Vice President and Global Senior Director of Product and Licensing at Pantone, commented on the achievement, stating, “Samsung Display’s screens for laptops and monitors have successfully met Pantone’s rigorous testing and evaluation criteria. This means content creators can accurately present the colors they intend to convey, more precisely than on any other display.”
Cho Yong-seok, the head of Samsung Display’s Small and Medium Business Market Division, emphasized the significance of these certifications. “With these Pantone certifications, we have once again demonstrated the exceptional color expression capabilities of our IT display products. As the number of consumers directly creating and producing content continues to grow, we are committed to being the preferred choice for those seeking accurate color representation.”
This latest achievement by Samsung Display is expected to further solidify its position in the rapidly growing IT OLED market, catering to the needs of both professional creators and consumers alike.
