December 20, 2024 – Microsoft is set to continue its tradition of holding an Xbox Developer Direct in January, according to a recent report by The Verge’s Tom Warren. This will mark the third consecutive year that the company has organized such an event, following the first in January 2023 and the second in January 2024.
Warren took to Bluesky to share his insights, stating, “It appears that Microsoft has finally hit its stride with the release of Xbox Game Pass content, evident in the recent launch of ‘Uncharted: Legacy of the Lost’ and the upcoming titles for 2025. Games like ‘The Vow,’ ‘South of Midnight,’ ‘Doom,’ ‘Towerborne,’ ‘Fable,’ and ‘The Outer Worlds 2’ are all slated for release next year. I predict an Xbox event in January!”
Furthermore, Jez Corden, Executive Editor of Windows Central, hinted earlier this month that Microsoft intends to hold an Xbox Developer Direct in the first quarter of the year, rather than announcing too much information about its first-party games at The Game Awards 2024.
Previously, Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct, held on January 19th, unveiled new details about games such as ‘Uncharted’ from Machine Games, ‘The Vow’ from Obsidian Entertainment, ‘Ara: History Untold’ from Oxide Games, and ‘Hellblade II’ from Ninja Theory. Fans and industry watchers are eagerly anticipating what new announcements and updates will emerge from the upcoming event.
