Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger to Deliver Keynote at ISSCC 2025, Highlighting Foundry Advances

August 10, 2024 – According to a report by the Korean media outlet, Chosun Ilbo, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger will attend and deliver a keynote speech at the upcoming IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) in San Francisco, scheduled for February 16-20, 2025. This marks the first time Gelsinger will speak at the plenary session of the ISSCC.

Previously, speakers from Intel at the ISSCC mainly focused on CPU-related technologies. However, Gelsinger’s upcoming speech is expected to center on Intel’s Integrated Device Manufacturing 2.0 (IDM 2.0) strategy. The Korean media outlet predicts that Gelsinger will discuss Intel’s semiconductor foundry technology and process roadmap, highlighting the company’s foundry competitiveness to attract customers and enhance the profitability of its related businesses.

This move is seen as an attempt to reverse the current downward trend faced by Intel, as its foundry business reported a significant increase in operating losses in the second quarter.

In addition to Intel, Samsung Electronics will also have a representative speaking at the IEEE ISSCC 2025. Lee Jung-Bae, President and General Manager of the Memory Business at Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions Division, is scheduled to deliver a plenary speech. His talk is expected to cover Samsung’s next-generation storage solutions, including 3D DRAM and CXL memory.

The upcoming IEEE ISSCC promises to be an exciting event, with key industry leaders sharing insights into the latest developments and strategies in the semiconductor industry.
