April 24, 2024 – According to a recent report from an anonymous source to tech publication 9to5Google, Google is gearing up to launch a new generation of Chromecast TV stick with Google TV 4K support, nearly four years after the previous model’s debut.
The informant indicated that this updated Chromecast TV stick, compatible with Google TV 4K, will feature a redesigned remote control. Last year, developer Mishaal Rahman examined the Android TV 14 Beta code, suggesting that the new remote may sport four circular buttons on the left, a round-headed rectangular button flanked by two circular buttons on the right, and an innovative star-shaped button at the bottom.
The previous Google TV 4K-compatible Chromecast TV stick, priced at 49.99 USD (currently equivalent to approximately 362 Chinese Yuan), boasted a 12nm Amlogic S905X3 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage space, running on the Android 12 operating system.
The upcoming Chromecast is rumored to be equipped with the Android TV 14 operating system and powered by an Amlogic S905X5 processor. This advanced processor utilizes a 6nm process and supports AV1 codec, promising enhanced performance and efficiency.
