December 6, 2024 – According to a report by GSMArena, Bluesky, a decentralized social platform, has surpassed the 24 million user mark, with an impressive growth of approximately 9 million users in just the past month.
Rose Wang, the Chief Operating Officer of Bluesky, revealed that the majority of new users flocking to the platform are from the United States. This budding social network already boasts over 700 million posts and 3.1 billion likes.
In comparison, Bluesky’s competitor, Threads, currently has 275 million monthly active users, while the X platform has approximately 611 million active users. It remains to be seen whether Bluesky can maintain its growth trajectory.
Currently, the X platform features advertisements, whereas both Bluesky and Threads are ad-free. However, Threads relies on a singular algorithm developed by Meta for content recommendation, whereas Bluesky offers a more diversified approach, including “Discover” and “Friends’ Trends” push notifications, as well as user-created algorithm-based recommendations.
