Toyota to Showcase Pure Electric SUV Urban Cruiser at 2025 Brussels Auto Show

December 13, 2024 – Toyota has unveiled its new compact pure electric SUV, the Urban Cruiser, which is slated to make its debut at the Brussels Auto Show in January 2025. This model, primarily developed for the European market, promises to deliver a unique driving experience.

Built on a new dedicated electric vehicle platform, the Urban Cruiser boasts a sturdy yet lightweight design. Toyota has optimized the interior space while also ensuring the protection of high-voltage components. Innovatively, the floor beams have been removed to allow for more room for the battery pack.

Toyota’s initial plans for the Urban Cruiser include offering it with dual lithium iron phosphate battery packs, providing three distinct power configurations:

Front-wheel drive coupled with a 49kWh battery, delivering 106kW of power.

Front-wheel drive paired with a 61kWh battery, generating 128kW of power.

All-wheel drive combined with a 61kWh battery, producing 135kW of power.

In terms of torque, the front-wheel drive versions offer 189 Nm, while the all-wheel drive variant provides 300 Nm.

The Urban Cruiser’s design is inspired by the “Urban Tech” concept, resulting in dimensions slightly larger than the previous hybrid SUV, the Yaris Cross. Its precise measurements are as follows: a length of 4285mm, a width of 1800mm, a height of 1640mm, and a wheelbase of 2700mm.

Inside, the Urban Cruiser boasts a sleek and modern interior with a sliding rear seat system, allowing for flexible adjustment of passenger space. The cabin features a clean, minimalistic design, accented by black and dark gray upholstery and trim. Ambiance is enhanced by 12-color ambient lighting, while a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch multimedia display offer a high-tech driving experience.

Toyota emphasizes that all Urban Cruiser models will be equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety and driver assistance systems, including pre-collision detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist, ensuring optimal safety for all passengers.
