July 11, 2024 – Following the implementation of tariffs by the European Union (EU) on electric vehicles made in China, Tesla announced on Wednesday that it has increased the prices of its Model 3 cars in several EU countries including France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Poland, Spain, and Sweden by approximately 1,500 euros.
The new pricing structure for the Model 3, produced at Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory in China, is as follows within the EU:
RWD Standard Range: Increased from 40,990 euros to 42,490 euros
Long Range: Increased from 49,990 euros to 51,490 euros
Performance Version: Increased from 56,990 euros to 58,490 euros
It’s worth noting that the Tesla Model Y, which is now being produced at the company’s Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany, remains unaffected by these price adjustments. In contrast to the price hikes in Europe, Tesla has reduced prices in Israel by 10%.
Currently, Tesla vehicles are subject to a 20.8% tariff, although the company has requested a reassessment of the tax rate. Other Chinese automakers may face tariffs as high as 37.6%. However, it’s important to mention that these tariff rates are temporary, and the European Commission is expected to make a final decision by November.
