August 22, 2024 – A study conducted by Sifo, a Swedish social research company, and Zaptec, a charging station company, has revealed that electric vehicle (EV) owners actually drive longer distances than their gasoline-powered counterparts.
The research, which surveyed 1082 individuals driving fossil fuel-powered cars and 1032 people operating electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids, encompassed drivers aged between 18 and 79.

According to the findings, 54% of EV owners reported experiencing little or no range anxiety. Conversely, approximately 45% of gasoline car drivers cited range anxiety as the primary reason they avoid purchasing electric vehicles.
Furthermore, the study found that 31% of EV owners in Sweden embark on at least 11 trips per year, each exceeding a one-way distance of 20 miles, compared to only 19% of gasoline car owners who undertake similar journeys.
