Targeting the Youth: AITO M6 Attracts Nearly 50% Female Buyers and Young Demographics

September 7, 2026 – AITO officially announced that its mid-to-large, five-seat SUV, the M6, has surpassed 50,000 units in cumulative deliveries. Yu Chengdong remarked that the vehicle has attracted a significant number of young users, with those under 35 accounting for nearly half of the buyers, and female owners making up almost 50%.

The AITO M6 was launched on April 22 this year, with a starting price of 259,800 RMB. Covering both Extended Range (EREV) and Pure Electric (BEV) powertrains, it adopts the latest family design language and is primarily targeted at younger consumers.

On June 16, the BEV Max and Max+ variants were introduced, lowering the starting price to 229,800 RMB. Last month, on the 20th, the EREV Max and EREV Max+ Long Range editions were added, priced at 239,800 RMB and 259,800 RMB, respectively.

As of now, there are eight configurations of the AITO M6 on sale. The EREV lineup includes one rear-wheel-drive and three all-wheel-drive models, equipped with either 37 kWh (LFP) or 53 kWh (ternary lithium) batteries, offering CLTC pure electric ranges of 235 km and 355 km. The BEV lineup consists of three rear-wheel-drive and one all-wheel-drive model, featuring 81 kWh (LFP) and 100 kWh (ternary lithium) batteries, delivering CLTC ranges of 602/630 km and 750/705 km.

Despite achieving over 50,000 cumulative deliveries and averaging over 10,000 units per month since its launch, the M6’s overall performance masks several underlying risks. Data shows that in July, the M6 sold only 5,428 units, marking its second consecutive month of decline with a substantial month-on-month drop. Specific figures for August have not yet been released but are expected to be similar.

The primary reason for the M6’s fading market appeal is arguably its product rollout strategy. During its peak launch hype, the vehicle lacked an 81 kWh rear-wheel-drive BEV version and a rear-wheel-drive EREV version. Although these were added later, the impact was limited. Coupled with continuous updates from competitors like the Li Auto L6, sales have naturally taken a hit.

Furthermore, while the M6 possesses strong inherent product capabilities, it has noticeable shortcomings when compared horizontally with competitors. The most glaring issue is battery capacity; the 259,800 RMB EREV Max+ comes with a 37 kWh battery, a specification unique only to this model in the industry.

With the launch of the Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 tonight, the M6’s sales are bound to face further pressure. Additionally, as the M7 and M8 face upcoming facelifts, and the M5 has essentially been neglected, the brand is currently relying solely on the M9 to carry its sales. Consequently, AITO’s overall sales volume is likely to experience another decline.
