Seven-Year Wait Continues: Musk Suggests Further Delay for Tesla Roadster Production

October 24, 2024 – In a report published today by automotive media outlet drive, it was revealed that Elon Musk hinted at a further delay for the Tesla Roadster during an investor conference call earlier this morning.

Without providing a specific updated release date for the highly anticipated electric supercar, Musk emphasized that Tesla’s focus remains on projects with a broader global impact. While acknowledging the excitement surrounding the Roadster’s development, he noted that it must take a backseat to other priorities.

Among these priorities are other new vehicle models currently in development, including the planned Cybercab, an autonomous taxi slated for production in 2026.

The Tesla Roadster, which made its debut as a concept car in 2017, was originally scheduled for delivery in 2020. However, the company has faced several delays in bringing the vehicle to market.

In July of this year, Musk stated that the engineering development of the Roadster was almost complete, with some additional upgrades planned. He had previously estimated that the car would enter mass production by next year.
